Atomic Faraday filter with equivalent noise bandwidth less than 1 GHz.
We demonstrate an atomic bandpass optical filter with an equivalent noise bandwidth less than 1 GHz using the D1 line in a cesium vapor. We use the ElecSus computer program to find optimal experimental parameters and find that, for important quantities, the cesium D1 line clearly outperforms other alkali metals on either D-lines. The filter simultaneously achieves a peak transmission of 77%, a ...
متن کاملUltranarrow Faraday rotation filter at the Rb D1 line.
We present a theoretical and experimental study of the ultranarrow bandwidth Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter operating at the rubidium D1 line (795 nm). This atomic line gives better performance than other lines for key figures of merit, e.g., simultaneously 71% transmission, 445 MHz bandwidth, and 1.2 GHz equivalent-noise bandwidth.
متن کاملSub-Doppler bandwidth atomic optical filter.
We demonstrate what is to our knowledge the first atomic optical filter that uses velocity selection to achieve a passband width that is less than the Doppler width of the filtering transition. A narrow-linewidth pump laser is used to induce circular birefringence in a narrow velocity class of atoms in a dense potassium vapor for 694-nm light resonant with the 4P(3/2)-6S(1/2) transition. The fi...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Self-adjusting Bandwidth Bandpass Filter without IIR Bias
In this paper we introduce a simple, computationally inxepentsive, adaptive recursive structure for enhancing bandpass signals highly corrupted by broad-band noise. This adaptive algorithm, enhancing input signals, enables us to estimate the center frequency and the bandwidth of the input signal. In addition, an important feature of the proposed structure is that the conventional bias existing ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Films with Thickness Less than 10 nm by Sensitivity-Enhanced Atomic Force Acoustic Microscopy
We present a method for characterizing ultrathin films using sensitivity-enhanced atomic force acoustic microscopy, where a concentrated-mass cantilever having a flat tip was used as a sensitive oscillator. Evaluation was aimed at 6-nm-thick and 10-nm-thick diamond-like carbon (DLC) films deposited, using different methods, on a hard disk for the effective Young's modulus defined as E/(1 - ν(2)...
